HONOLULU (AP) — Repairs have been made after vandals knocked out dozens of Oahu traffic cameras.
Sixty-two cameras are back online after about $10,000 in repairs were made to fiber optic cable at a secured site near Middle Street.
Officials think copper thieves were responsible for knocking out the cameras last month, even though there’s no copper to be stolen in the fiber optic lines.
They recently put up signs at the site, saying “No Copper.” Another sign announces it’s a fiber optic cable.
Similar damage was found in November.
